JT Farm Joins the Client Roster of Phelps Media Group, Inc. Wellington, FL - December 17, 2007 - Phelps Media Group, Inc. (PMG) is pleased to welcome JT Farm and trainer James “Jimmy” Toon to their client roster. JT Farm is based in South Salem, NY, and Wellington, FL. “We are very excited to work with Jimmy,” said PMG President Mason Phelps Jr. “He has successful businesses in New York and Florida, and we’d like to help increase his exposure in both areas.” JT Farm trains horses and riders in hunters, jumpers, and equitation. James Toon has been training for over 30 years. In addition to his winning clients and their horses, he has ridden horses to national championships. Toon started out at the Boulderbrook Riding Club in New York, where he eventually became the manager, teacher, and rider. Toon worked for top trainer Ralph Caristo and bought his own property for JT Farm in 1993. He moved to South Salem in 1996, where the farm encompasses more than 50 acres and has impeccable facilities that include three barns, a large indoor riding arena, two outdoor sand rings, an outdoor grass grand prix field, and miles of trails. Toon has a long list of winning horses in his barn. In the 1980s, he trained Whiz Kid and student Patty Kelly to AHSA (now USEF) Horse of the Year honors in the Amateur-Owner Hunters. Toon himself rode Imbibing to the Second Year Green Horse of the Year title. In the 90s, he rode Clyde Barrow to Horse of the Year honors and picked up many championships with Fade to Black. Other top horses in his barn include Wise Disguise, Invincible, Bonnie Parker, and White Gold. Toon’s wife, Ellen, has had a string of some of the top amateur-owner hunters in the country, picking up Winter Equestrian Festival (WEF) circuit championships, tricolors at every major show in the country, and Horse of the Year titles. They include In Disguise and Attaché. Last week at the 124th National Horse Show and Family Festival, Ellen Toon swept the Amateur-Owner Over 35 Hunter division. She was champion with Attaché and reserve champion on Invincible. Sandy Ferrell rode Avalon to top ribbons in the Second Year Green Hunters. In 2007, Toon was a WEF circuit champion with Tayfoon in the Pre-Green 3’3” Hunters and in the Second Year Green Hunters on Avalon. He has also been one of the most sought-after judges in the industry for years and has judged many of the best horse shows in the nation, including the USEF Medal Finals, ASPCA Maclay National Championship, and Pony Finals. While Toon has generated many top hunters, he is a trainer who focuses on producing championship equitation horses. This past year, his horse I-Toon won the WIHS Equitation Finals with rider Maria Schaub. He has also trained Littlefoot, the 2006 WIHS Equitation Finals champion, In Pursuit, and Jeter. Some of his current winning clients include Dudley MacFarlane, Alesandra Perna, Katie Galbraith, Carolyn Lichtenberg, Dr. Elizabeth Kilgallon, Madyn Field, Van Isaacs, Lyn Pederson, Samantha Sorbaro, Carolyn Zelentz, and Brianne Link. JT Farms offers some of the best training in the tri-state area and they are only 50 miles outside of New York City. In addition to attending some of the biggest and best horse shows on the East Coast, they work with clients who are interested in starting out at smaller competitions. Toon gives a personalized approach to every client to meet each person’s and each horse’s needs, and his approach is based on simplicity. |
