One of the top performers was Cayero, an equitation horse owned by JT Farm. He and rider Sophie Benjamin placed seventh in the inaugural George Morris Excellence in Equitation class. Benjamin and Cayero were one of 45 invited to participate in the class. In the first round, they scored an 86, which placed them in fourth after the first round. They were one of 12 asked back for the second round. They had a good second round and ended up in seventh place. In addition to that class, they placed second in the Pessoa/USEF Medal and sixth in the WIHS Equitation hunter phase. Ellen Toon and her veteran mount Attache, who were WEF circuit champions last year, finished as reserve champions this week in the Amateur-Owner Over 35 Hunters. They received two seconds and two thirds in the competition. On her second horse Invincible, Toon was first, second, fourth, and fifth in the division. Avalon, owned by JT Farm and ridden by Alexandra Arute, won the Large Junior 16-17 under saddle class and were fifth and eighth over fences. Katie Galbraith piloted The Boss to third, fifth, and seventh places in the Large Junior 15 & Under Hunters. Jimmy Toon and Tayfoon had top ribbons in the First Year Green Working Hunters this week, while Tatiana Dzavik rode Jumping for Joy for owner Susan Horn to ribbons in the Pre-Green 3'3" Hunters. Brianne Link continued to do well in the Children's Pony Hunter Large division with Foxcroft Veronsky. They placed second and third. Link and Asgard Mercury were fourth in the Equitation 11 & Under. JT Farm will compete next at week ten of the CN Winter Equestrian Festival on March 19-23.
